      China is a huge country in eastern Asia. It is the worlds largest country in population. China’s land area includes some of the dryest deserts and highest mountens on earth,as well as some of the richest farmlands. Chinese boys and girls go to school when they are three years old; and go to Primary Schol when they are seven. Most chinese women go out to work. Young children have to go to Nursrie School while their Parents are at work.. The family’s are very important in China. The govermment owns all the land in China. Many Chinese boys and girls belong to a group called The Young Pioneers. China has many traditional arts and crafts. Skilled workers produce silk enbroidery, wood and stone carvings and other beautiful things.All workers live and work in groups called communes. Beijing is the capital city of China.Tiamammen Square in
Beijing can hold nearly a million people.

     Shanghai is the largest city in China. It is also an important port. Ships from all over the world come there. The Great Wall of China crosses northen China from the east coast to the central part of China. It is about 4,000 miles long and it was all built by hand to portect northen China from their enemies.

The units of money in China are yuan, jiao and fen. There are 100 fen in a yuan, and ten fen in a jiao.In American dollers one yuan is only worth 27 cents.
